The Aliaga´s Geologic Park is an appraisement project of the Geologic Patrimony, on an exceptional space that allows to contemplate the history of the Earth, during the last 200 million years.

The park has a system of itineraries completed with panels and interpretation boards, distributed along the space. There also are different guides and pamphlets that support the visit. The whole Park is inventoried as Point of Geologic Interest.

You can complete the visit with the Mining Interpretation Centre of Santa Bárbara (Neighbourhood of Aliaga) that can serve as beginning or final point of the visit.

CONTENTS:

Besides the undeniable landscape aspects, there are four interest nucleus in the Park:

1. the strata of the Cretathic period, with alternation of marine calcareous formations and sandy and loamy formations deposited in rivers and lakes.

2. the continental formations of the Tertiary Era.

3. the tectonic deformations of the previous layers taken place during the Alpine Orogeny.

4. the singular relief forms, consequences of the erosive processes that have modelled the landscape.

Each one can be observed along 11 points and itineraries, with a distance of 7 km. around the village of Aliaga, signalled by panels, interpretation boards and signs. There also are a road signalling and itineraries indicators.
