The review to the patrimonial wealth of the Maestrazgo´s Cultural Park can begin with the Cave Painting Art, declared Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO. To the traditional group of Levant paintings (between 6.000 and 2.500 before Christ), of the environment of the Santolea´s Reservoir, with the shelters of “La Vacada”, “El Arenal de la Fonseca”, “El Abrigo del Arquero”, “El Torico del Pudial” and “El Friso abierto del Pudial”... it is necessary to incorporate a second one that is being configured in the space of the High Maestrazgo, with the paintings of the Gibert´s Ravine, in Mosqueruela that, with 1.360 m. Upon the sea level, are located among those of the biggest altitude of the Iberian Peninsula, as well as with numerous engravings of diverse chronology. In Iberian time, we would see how cities like Damianu, in Hinojosa de Jarque, or rich decorated ceramic productions carried out in the environment of Alcorisa, where it highlights the Iberian- roman location of “El Cabezo de la Guardia”, appear. Of the Roman period, it is necessary to point out the ruins of a mausoleum in the Cid´s hermitage in La Iglesuela del Cid. The Islamic presence is reflected, besides in the archaeology, in a wall canvas in Puertomingalvo and a small chapiter of the same town. Where the importance and wealth of the cultural patrimony of the Park is better understood, it is through the ten Historical Groups that are in: Mirambel, Cantavieja, Iglesuela del Cid, Mosqueruela, Puertomingalvo, Tronchón, Villarroya de los Pinares, Miravete de la Sierra, Cuevas de Cañart and Castellote, all they unite urban layouts of medieval time, with constructions of diverse centuries that reflect the best splendour moments. But the Monumental Groups are not the only Patrimony, numerous works, distributed in other municipalities, let us exemplify the best moments in the Art’s History. The Gothic period, undoubtedly the one that configures good part of the aesthetic identity of the Cultural Park, is represented, besides in the own groups, in works as the parochial church of Molinos, the hermitage of “La Virgen del Campo” of Camarillas, the parochial of Bordón, La Ginebrosa, the church’s façade of Mosqueruela, San Miguel of Cantavieja, or the church’s tower of Castel de Cabra, etc... among other many constructions distributed in the territory, where there also are very important the Gothic aqueduct of Camarillas or many of the bridges that cross the Maestrazgo´s rivers. It is necessary not to forget the castles and the fortified farmhouses. The medieval print is also present in multitude of elements of the civil architecture or the hydraulic engineering . |
